Notes
'Black Echo' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Black Echo') is a shrub for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Reddish-purple semi-double flowers open in early to late spring and carry black flares along the petals. Nate Bremer bred it, and it grows upright to about 39 inches tall.
Pairs well with Siberian iris, Elegans hosta, and Stargazer lily.
