'Black Knight' delphinium (Delphinium elatum 'Black Knight') is a perennial for borders. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. It blooms from early to late summer and attracts butterflies and hummingbirds. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. Plants grow 59 to 71 inches tall and 24 to 36 inches wide, so give them room at the back of the bed.
Pairs well with Lady's mantle, Alina rose, and Great Expectations hosta.
