Notes
'Black Stem' taro (Colocasia esculata 'Black Stem') is a perennial for borders, containers, and specimen plantings. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 9 and warmer, down to about 20°F (-7°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It forms a clumping mound that reaches 59 to 71 inches tall. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Give it room to spread up to 59 inches wide.
Pairs well with Papyrus, Angel wings, Kimberly queen fern, and Shrimp plant.
