Notes
'Elena' taro (Colocasia esculenta 'Elena') is a bulb for specimen, accent, and rain garden plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, loamy or clay soil. It grows 24 to 48 inches tall and forms a clump 18 to 24 inches wide. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Growth is moderate, so the clump fills in over time.
Pairs well with Hardy hibiscus, Ostrich fern, and Karl Foerster feather reed grass.
