Notes

'Blue Ice' blue star (Amsonia tabernaemontana 'Blue Ice') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Dark navy buds open to lighter periwinkle blue star-shaped flowers that attract butterflies and bees. The bright green leaves turn yellow in fall.

Pairs well with False indigo, Bowl of Beauty peony, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
