Notes

'Montana' blue star (Amsonia tabernaemontana 'Montana') is a perennial for pollinator gardens, cottage gardens, rain gardens, and meadows. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It forms a slow growing clump that reaches 12 to 18 inches tall. Butterflies and bees visit the spring and summer blooms. It sits low on the menu for deer.

Pairs well with Blue wild indigo, Little bluestem, Joe-pyeweed, and Queen of Night tulip.
