Notes
'Short Stack' blue star (Amsonia tabernaemontana 'Short Stack') is a perennial for pollinator gardens, cottage gardens, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Sky blue flowers open in spring and attract butterflies and bees. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. The clumps grow slowly, so give them time to fill in.
Pairs well with Blue wild indigo, Switchgrass, and Black-eyed Susan.
