Notes

'Bordeaux' peony (Paeonia 'Bordeaux') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The single, dark red blooms are fragrant and have a large yellow center that bees and butterflies visit. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Prof. Arthur Percy Saunders bred it.

Pairs well with Dense blazing star, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Carlton daffodil.
