Notes

California grape (Vitis californica) is a fruit vine for borders, food gardens, and ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy or clay soil. Without support, it makes a nice ground cover. Fragrant, greenish-yellow flowers are followed by clusters of small purple grapes. It can grow aggressively, so pick a spot with plenty of room.

Pairs well with Coast live oak, California sycamore, and California buckeye.
