Notes
'Carol' mountain laurel (Kalmia latifolia 'Carol') is a shrub for pollinator gardens and accents. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. It stays dense and evergreen, and it draws butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds. Deer rarely make it their first choice. Look for blooms in spring and again in summer.
Pairs well with Sassafras, White snakeroot, and Scarlet oak.
