Cassian fountain grass

Garden uses

Notes

'Cassian' fountain grass (Cenchrus alopecuroides 'Cassian') is a grass for ground cover and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet soil. It grows 24 to 30 inches tall and wide. Whitish green flower spikes with a pink tinge appear from late summer into early to mid autumn. The foliage also turns color in fall, and the plant tolerates drought once settled.

Pairs well with Karl Foerster feather reed grass, Buttonbush, and Ostrich fern.
