Notes

'Red Head' fountain grass (Cenchrus alopecuroides 'Red Head') is a grass for borders, containers, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. It grows 36 to 48 inches tall and bears pale pink blooms that attract birds. The foliage turns color in fall, and the plant tolerates drought. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Karl Foerster feather reed grass, Hardy hibiscus, and Siberian iris.
