Notes

'Castlegar' peony (Paeonia 'Castlegar') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, specimen planting, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. The fragrant, double flowers are creamy yellow with raspberry-pink streaks and look peach or near orange. Stems may bend in bloom but do not break, so the plant forms a rounded mound.

Pairs well with Sum and Substance hosta, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Nodding onion.
