Notes

'Catillac' pear (Pyrus communis 'Catillac') is a tree for food gardens and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. White flowers open from early to late spring and draw butterflies, bees, and birds. Bonnefond bred it in 1665. Plant a second pear nearby, since it is not self-fertile.

Pairs well with Plum, Royal Star star magnolia, Woolly yarrow, and Big bluestem.
