Notes

Champion's wood fern (Dryopteris championii) is a fern for woodland gardens, shade borders, and mass plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part to full shade and average moisture. It stays evergreen, so it keeps its foliage in the garden through winter. Plants reach 24 to 36 inches tall and wide, so give them room to spread.

Pairs well with Lady in Red lady fern, Endless Summer The Original bigleaf hydrangea, and Indian pink.

Native range

Central and eastern Asia.
