Notes

'Chansonette' camellia (Camellia sasanqua 'Chansonette') is a shrub for borders, hedges, privacy screens, and foundation plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Fragrant flowers open in autumn and again in winter, and they draw bees and birds. Deer rarely make it their first choice. It grows fast, stays evergreen, and handles salt and drought.

Pairs well with Japanese holly, Little bluestem, and Red spider lily.
