Notes

'Chesnok Red' garlic (Allium sativum 'Chesnok Red') is a bulb for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Each bulb holds 8 to 10 cloves and stores for 6 to 8 months. The purple peel is attractive, and the flavor is strong.

Pairs well with Ice Follies daffodil, Amazing Grace tulip, and Soraya sunflower.
