Notes

'German Red' garlic (Allium sativum 'German Red') is a vegetable grown for gourmet cooking, garlic powder, and cold climate gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 2, or down to -50°F (-46°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Plant it in fall and harvest in mid to late summer. Each bulb holds 8 to 12 cloves that are easy to peel, and the heads store 4 to 6 months.

Pairs well with Rush, Red fescue, and Drumstick primrose.
