Notes

'Russian Red' garlic (Allium sativum 'Russian Red') is a bulb for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 2, or down to -50°F (-46°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It is grown for fresh eating, where it tastes fiery and spicy, and for roasting, where it turns rich and garlicky. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. Plant it in fall and harvest in mid to late summer.

Pairs well with Charm peony, Fireball French marigold, and Red fescue.
