Notes

Chinese fountain bamboo (Fargesia nitida) is a grass for specimen planting, hedges, privacy screens, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows in an arching shape and stays evergreen with gray-silver and green leaves. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Growth is moderate, so it fills in over time.

Pairs well with Rock cotoneaster, Caucasian comfrey, Japanese forest grass, and Christmas fern.
