Notes

Chinese redbud (Cercis chinensis) is a tree for borders, specimen planting, accents, and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Rosy purple flowers open in early to late spring and again in early to late autumn, and butterflies, bees, and birds visit the tree. Deer tend to browse other plants first. The dense form grows at a moderate rate.

Pairs well with Japanese maple, Japanese holly, Primrose, and Casa Blanca lily.
