Notes
Chinese rhubarb (Rheum palmatum) is a perennial for borders and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy or clay soil. It grows 6 to 10 feet tall and 4 to 6 feet wide, so give it plenty of room. Pink to red flowers appear in spring and again in summer.
Pairs well with Karl Foerster feather reed grass, Casa Blanca lily, and Rose of sharon.
Native range
Northwestern China.
