Notes

Chinese sumac (Rhus chinensis) is a shrub for pollinator gardens and naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average soil. Creamy white flowers open from early to late summer and again in early autumn. The leaves show gold, yellow, green, and orange tones. Birds visit the plant, and its multi-stemmed habit forms a wide thicket.

Pairs well with Common milkweed, Spotted beebalm, and Chinkapin oak.
