Notes

Littleleaf sumac (Rhus microphylla) is a shrub for borders, hedges, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. White flowers appear before the leaves and give way to clusters of orange-red berries on female plants. Birds and bees visit it, and fall color is a muted rose and purple. Suckers form colonies, so give it room.

Pairs well with Purple sage, Apache plume, and Autumn sage.
