Notes

'Tiger Eyes' staghorn sumac (Rhus typhina 'Tiger Eyes') is a shrub for borders, hedges, privacy screens, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. It grows at a rapid rate and reaches about 3 to 6 feet tall and wide. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit it, and it tolerates drought. It is not a favorite of rabbits, though hungry rabbits will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Switchgrass, Oakleaf hydrangea, and David garden phlox.
