Notes

'Clown' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Clown') is a perennial for borders and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Its fragrant rose-pink blooms have white edges and a yellow center, and butterflies visit them. William Henry Krekler bred it.

Pairs well with Lady's mantle, Globemaster allium, and Foxglove.
