Notes
Columbian larkspur (Delphinium trolliifolium) is a perennial for cottage gardens, native gardens, and the back of a shady border. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun and dry to moist soil. Tall airy spikes of deep blue flowers rise above large, shiny, deeply lobed leaves and attract hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies. Deer tend to browse other plants first. Plants spread slowly from short, thick rhizomes into colonies.
Pairs well with Aureola Japanese forest grass, Autumn fern, and Rozanne crane's-bill.
