Notes

Columbine (Aquilegia viridiflora) is a mounding perennial for borders, cottage gardens, rock gardens, and woodland settings. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. The fragrant, yellowish green flowers open in spring and again in summer, and butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees visit them. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. It stays 6 to 12 inches tall.

Pairs well with Western sword fern, Lily of the valley, Kansas peony, and Cheerfulness daffodil.
