Notes

Comfortroot (Hibiscus aculeatus) is a perennial for borders, meadows, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to moist, sandy soil. The cream flowers have a dark red center and pleated, scalloped petals. They open in summer and fall and attract butterflies and bees. In moist soil it can reach 6 feet, though 3 feet is more common.

Pairs well with Swamp milkweed, Joe-pyeweed, and Cardinal flower.
