Notes

'Commedian' peony (Paeonia 'Commedian') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Its blooms show a reddish tinge over yellow with a dark center, and they open in early to late spring. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Derek Irvine bred it in 2001.

Pairs well with Garden phlox, Primrose, Niobe clematis, and Big bluestem.
