Notes

'Compacta' inkberry (Ilex glabra 'Compacta') is an evergreen shrub for hedges, privacy screens, winter interest, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, sandy or clay soil. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. White flowers appear in spring and summer and draw bees, butterflies, and birds. It grows slowly to 36 to 48 inches tall and 48 to 72 inches wide.

Pairs well with Chokeberry, Switchgrass, Great blue lobelia, and Cinnamon fern.
