Notes

'Strongbox' inkberry (Ilex glabra 'Strongbox') is an evergreen shrub for borders, hedges, privacy screens, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It stays compact at 24 to 36 inches tall and wide, and it grows slowly. Bees, butterflies, and birds visit it. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Chokeberry, Switchgrass, and Meadowsweet.
