Notes

'Comte De Jussieu' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Comte De Jussieu') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The loose, globular blooms open light pink with crimson and green flecks in early to mid spring. Strong reddish green stems hold the flowers upright on a medium, compact plant. Modeste Guérin bred it in 1850.

Pairs well with Black Hero tulip, Prairie dropseed, and Lily of the valley.
