Notes
Confederate rose (Hibiscus mutabilis) is a shrub for borders, pollinator gardens, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. Pink or white flowers open in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn. Butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit the blooms.
Pairs well with Lantana, Crimson-spot rockrose, and Paprika yarrow.
Native range
South central and southeast China and Taiwan.
