Notes

'Continental' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Continental') is a perennial for borders and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. George Hollis bred it in 1905. The large, semi-double flowers open in early summer in lilac-pink and magenta shades with scarlet flecks. The compact, upright plants stay tidy and the blooms are fragrant.

Pairs well with Rainbow's End hosta, Stargazer lily, and Switchgrass.
