Notes

Creeping Oregon grape (Berberis repens) is a shrub for borders, ground cover, and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Yellow spring flowers feed bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, and birds eat the blue fruits. It spreads slowly by underground rhizomes, so give it room.

Pairs well with Wild geranium, Autumn fern, and Sedge.
