Notes
'Crispa Cristata' male fern (Dryopteris filix-mas 'Crispa Cristata') is a fern for shade gardens, woodland settings, and accents. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade, average moisture, and loamy or clay soil. Its arching fronds have forked tips and shaggy golden scales. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. It grows 24 to 48 inches tall.
Pairs well with White Feather hosta, Yellow trout-lily, and Downy serviceberry.
