Notes
'Crodie' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Crodie') is a perennial for borders, cut flower gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its medium sized flowers are a deep mahogany red single with many pollen bearing stamens and light pink tipped carpels. The blooms stand irregularly above dense, stubby light green foliage. William Henry Krekler bred it as a seedling of 'Vera'.
Pairs well with Switchgrass, Ice plant, and Stargazer lily.
