Notes

'Czar' plum (Prunus domestica 'Czar') is a tree for food gardens and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist soil. The blossom is unusually large for a plum and opens in early to late spring. Bees and butterflies visit the flowers. The large dark purple fruit ripens early and is grown for cooking and fresh eating once fully ripe.

Pairs well with Gala apple, Gladiator ornamental onion, and Paris coral bells.
