Notes

'Empress' plum (Prunus domestica 'Empress') is a tree for food gardens and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist soil. Bees and butterflies visit the spring flowers. The dark blue and purple plums ripen late in the season and taste sweet and sugary. Left on the tree, the fruit hangs on well into late fall.

Pairs well with Serviceberry, Blueberry, Raspberry, and Feather reed grass.
