Notes

'Damask' peony (Paeonia 'Damask') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Golden-yellow and cream flowers with dark red flares open in early to late spring. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Arthur Percy Saunders bred it in 1941.

Pairs well with Sweet William, Queen of Night tulip, and Niobe clematis.
