Notes

'Dan W.' peony (Paeonia 'Dan W.') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, specimen plantings, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Fragrant dark red Japanese blooms have dark red staminodes edged with gold, and strong stems hold one bud each. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Bees and butterflies visit the flowers.

Pairs well with Patriot hosta, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Carnaval De Nice tulip.
