Notes

'Dart' Japanese barberry (Berberis thunbergii 'Dart') is a shrub for pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Bees and birds visit it, and it blooms in early to late spring. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Drought and salt do not bother it.

Pairs well with Flowering quince, Big bluestem, and Lily.
