Notes

'Dawning' peony (Paeonia 'Dawning') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Semi-double blooms in cream flushed with rose and wine open in early to late spring. Each strong stem carries three buds, and butterflies visit the flowers.

Pairs well with Blue fescue, Sweet woodruff, and Black Parrot tulip.
