Notes
'Deep Red' butterfly milkweed (Asclepias tuberosa 'Deep Red') is a perennial for pollinator gardens, rock gardens, and borders. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry soil. Dark red-orange flowers appear from early to late summer and draw butterflies and bees. Deer rarely make it their first choice. It is late to emerge in spring, so be patient.
Pairs well with Blazing star, Purple lovegrass, and Sego lily.
