Notes
Dutchman's pipe (Aristolochia macrophylla) is a vine for privacy screens, shade gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to moist soil of most types. Large, heart-shaped leaves and pipe-shaped green and burgundy flowers give it a picturesque look. Deer tend to pass it by. It climbs by twining stems, so give it support and pinch the growing tips to encourage branching.
Pairs well with Nelly Moser clematis, Smooth hydrangea, and Mountain laurel.

Eastern North America.
