Notes

Dwarf larkspur (Delphinium tricorne) is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, and meadows. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Loose clusters of violet blue to purple flowers sit atop unbranched, fleshy stems with finely cut leaves. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and birds visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Culver’s root, Standing Ovation little bluestem, Johnny jump up, and Jeana garden phlox.
