Notes

'Early Caucasian' peony (Paeonia 'Early Caucasian') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, specimen planting, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its pale yellow flowers have raspberry flares and open earlier than those of its parent species. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Bees and butterflies visit the flowers.

Pairs well with Fragrant Bouquet hosta, Nodding onion, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Polish Spirit clematis.
