Notes

'Earlybird' peony (Paeonia 'Earlybird') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It is generally the first peony to bloom, and bees and butterflies visit the fragrant, bright crimson flowers. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Professor Arthur Percy Saunders bred it.

Pairs well with Halcyon hosta, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Carlton daffodil.
