Notes

'Eclipse' peony (Paeonia 'Eclipse') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its fragrant, dark red blooms open in spring above gray-green, red-veined foliage. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Saunders bred it in 1950.

Pairs well with Praying Hands hosta, Nodding onion, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
